Green plants and statues form the stage display. 2014 Stage display at Llandysul Gardening Weekend.

We’ve had some snow and frost and it’s now cold and damp but things are about to change and spring is around the corner especially in the Teifi Valley town of Llandysul, where the annual Gardening Weekend will be held from the 20th to the 22nd of February.  The Gardening Weekend is in its 15th years and is again hosted by Chelsea Gold Medal winning Farmyard Nurseries who will also have a stall selling all sorts of plants from their nursery, including their famous hellebores.

The Llandysul Gardening Weekend is on for three days, from Friday 20th February to Sunday 22nd February, 10am-5pm.

Tysul Hall will be filled with garden related stalls, the stage will be transformed by  Richard Bramley of Farmyard Nurseries into a garden fantasy and every day there will be talks by expert gardening speakers.

Ar Fferm Glynhynod, heb fod ymhell o Landysul, mae gwirodydd hyfryd yn cael eu creu gan gwmni Da Mihle – drws nesaf i weithdy Caws Teifi (SA44 5JY). Gellir dadlau fod y peiriannau distyllu yn weithiau o gelf ynddyn nhw eu hunain, heb son am y poteli hyfryd o hylif euraidd.

Mae celf yn ddiddordeb arbennig i’r perchnogion, sy’n gefnogol i fenter Taith Celf Ceredigion yn yr haf. Am bythefnos ym mis Awst 2015 bydd stiwdios nifer o arlunwyr a ffotograffwyr ar agor i’r cyhoedd, felly cofiwch y dyddiadau pan fyddwch yn cynllunio ambell ymweliad neu ddiwrnod i’r brenin. Ceir arddangosfeydd yn oriel flasu Da Mihle hefyd – ar hyn o bryd ffotograffau hyfryd Peter Jackman sydd yno.

Mae’r gwirodydd ar werth yn nifer o’r siopau yng Nghastell Newydd Emlyn hefyd.

A distillery, a gallery – and cheese next door

A distillery, a gallery – and cheese next door

There are some amazing businesses here in the Teifi Valley, and this one is right on our doorstep in Llandysul.

At Glynhynod farm, near Llandysul (SA44 5JY) fine spirits are being distilled in wonderful stills that are in themselves works of art: Da Mihle Distillery. Maybe one of their award-winning products is just the right present for the person-you’ve-left-until-last, or indeed, for your own tray of special drinks. Just look at this beautiful orange liqueur.

Buy locally at one of the giftshops in Newcastle Emlyn or call in at the distillery itself. At the moment they have photographs by Peter Jackman exhibited in their gallery space, so there’s another good reason for calling by. And did I mention that Caws Teifi Cheese is next door?

I have worked with a group, very hard over the last month on the new exhibition of Llandysul and District Local History Society. In fact, I and the rest of the group have been researching for over two years about the men and women from Llandysul who went on to serve in the Great War.

Here we are then, the exhibition. We have found nearly 400 people from the area went to war. I’m sure there are more!

Why not come along and find out.

Ar ail ddiwrnod yr antur fawr ar afon Teifi, doedd dim blinder nag ofn i’w gweld, dim ond mentr, dyfalbarhad ac, erbyn cyrraedd Cenarth, lle mae’r rhaeadrau’n cyfri fel Gradd 4 (ie, heriol iawn) – BUDDUGOLIAETH!
